The world of healthy exercise

Exercise you either love it, hate it, or it confuses you. There is so many contriding views on what the best form of exercise is, hours on the treadmill, lifting weights, hitt, yoga, pilates and so on, the options can seem endless. I am not going to tell you which one is the best (honestly I feel they all have there place), I believe the best form of exercise is the one you will do. Any form of healthy movement is better than none.

The THM authors have shared about exercise in both the original book (chapter 36) and the plan book (chapter 29)

We all know it is important to get exercice but did you know you can over do it. According to the American Heart Association you should not exceed 300 minutes of exercise a week. That breaks down to around 42 minutes a day tops.

My personal Work out thoughts

I like to move I do not sit still well, that leads to lots of natural movement throughout the day. I am for at least 20 minutes of structured exercise 6 days a week. This ranges from cardio to strength training, I add in yoga and lots of walking throughout the week. The structured workouts I have been into recently are the THM Workings, Bikini Body Mommy, and Femfusion Fitness.

The Workins will have you working with Serene and Pearl. They are 20 minutes or you can chose to do just the sections you have time for making it easy to fit into your day. The down side to these in my opinion is that you are not queued to what to do well meaning you need to be watch the screen though the whole workout. The workins can be found in the THM store.

I love doing Bikini Body Mommy workouts, she currently has 9 free 90 day challenges plus content you can buy. All workouts are 20 minutes or less, they are set up to include both cardio and strength throughout the week, and each challenge gets progressively harder as they go. A new free 90 day challenge will be coming in 2021.

FemFusion fitness can be found on youtube https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC8P8jYUnqtkxbTdJ2_xwWuQ

There is a verity of workouts that are all pelvic floor friendly and a wide rang of lengths. She also gives great information on pelvic health, and releases new content often.

Other then structured workouts I often do short bursts on the mini elliptical throughout the day as time allows. The mini elliptical is nice since it does not take up much room and is easy to move from room to room. This is the one I have

I will also at time walk on the treadmill while watching TV, walk the dogs, or walk laps around the play area outside while the kids are playing, this is just to get steps in. I have a fitbit and aim for 12000 steps a day.

To some all of this may sound extreme, but I never beat myself up if I don't reach my step goal or skip a workout, but most days I have no problem with doing these tings and end the day well over my step goal.

I feel that exercise is an important part of health and it is a personal choice how you fit it into your life. But please don't use exercise as a form of punishment when you eat something you think is "bad" use it to show your body love.
